- The great news is that you can hire a doula the second you find out you are pregnant or when you are in the delivery room.
- Doulas are always ready to support and can adapt to most situations quite easily
- We suggest you hire a Doula in advance to take full advantage of their knowledge and expertise so you can feel prepared and confident for the birth you deserve with time to practice comfort measures and establish both a birth outline and a postpartum plan
- Another great time to hire a Doula is after you get home with baby and need some extra support with feedings, soothing or rest

- The short answer is Yes! As a member with the Academy of Naturopaths and Naturotherapists of Canada, Cris Baluch, The Passionate Doula, can issue receipts for reimbursement through your insurance provider. Please verify with your provider if your policy includes Naturopaths.

- Doulas are highly recommended for any and all types of births. According to the World Health Organization, every birther should have a doula to accompany them as a support system
- Emotionally, Cesarean section births are no different than any other type of birth. A Doula would still help you prepare the birth space and help you develop the birth plan you would like to have and help you navigate your feelings surrounding all of the events
- Doula would still help you to plan your postpartum plan and support you in all of the ways they would at any other type of birth
- Studies show that C-section moms often need more support as they have the added stress of having to heal from a surgical birth and be a new mom all at the same time

- Cris Baluch (The Passionate Doula) has been assisting birthers for the past 17 years. In 2020, she decided to become a formally trained Doula/ Birth Worker with Bebomia. In January of 2021, Cris completed the 4 month Maternal Support Practitioner program and is now trained to support families through fertility, pregnancy, birth and postpartum. Bebomia is a recognized training and education centre based in Toronto, Ontario and they certify Doulas in over 35 Countries.
- Cris' Birth Knowledge and extensive hands on training began back in 2003. Since then, she has completed several breastfeeding Education trainings and childbirth educations training as well.
- Cris is also a member with the Academy of Naturopaths and Naturotherapists of Canada and can issue insurance receipts for reimbursement
- Cris is also a mother to 2 children and successfully breastfed both of her babies for over 2 years each. Her passion to help others has also led her to pursue assisting mothers in her community with their own breastfeeding struggles. Since moving to Quebec in late 2019, Cris has helped over 100 women with breastfeeding
- Cris is also CPR and First Aid certified
- Cris also continues to stay up to date and current on all studies and research pertaining to fertility, labour, birth, recovery, breastfeeding, postpartum mood disorders, infant sleep and so much more through her continuous workshops offered through Bebomia

What kind of training does The Passionate Doula have?
- A Doula is meant to add to the team, not take away.
- The more Oxytocin (the love hormone) that runs through the birther during labour, the easier labour will be.
- The more people loving, protecting and supporting the birther during labour, the more Oxytocin she will make.
- A Doula is there to be a support system to both the Birther and the Birth Partner.
- A Doula facilitates the bond between the two of you and encourages the partner to be the lead supporter in the room.
- Birth Partners often feel more confident and capable to follow direction and be more supportive when they have a cheerleader guiding them in the moment.
- The Passionate Doula firmly believes that a birth team supporting and meeting the needs of the birther at all times is a win win win situation for all

- Builds your confidence by providing lots of evidence based research
- Actively listens to your concerns without judgement and goes over plans of action for a positive family outcome

- Helps with the transitions into parenthood and helps you manage your expectations
- Is respectful of your limitations and to your window of tolerance
